WHAT UNIT IS MORE IMPORTANT, OFFENSIVE LINE OR RUNNING BACKS?
Well,
A.) a good offensive line creates better runners
B.) a good running back makes the offensive line look better
For the first one all I gotta say is Edgerrin James. For the second one all I gotta say is Tiki Barber. Now, James is not a bad player but the credit obviously goes to the offensive line that used to make the path for him to go through. They gave him time and allowed him to work it at his own speed. On the other hand, we have Tiki who used half of a rookie line and David Diehl with a new position. Tiki used his slow linemen to position himself and use his experience rather than speed.
I think the importance of these two positions are based on percentage. If the line gives 60% than the running back has to at least give 40%. Vice-versa, if the line gives 40% than the running back must be at least a solid 60% to make a team strong from the ground attack. What do you think???
