Week 13: NFC East Schedule
Here is a look at the NFC East Schedule as well as the schedule for the NFC teams that are in the Playoff hunt with the Giants for Week 13:
NFC East
11/29/2007 Green Bay Packers Dallas Cowboys 8:30 pm
12/02/2007 Buffalo Bill Washington Redskins 1:00 pm
12/02/2007 Seattle Seahawks Philadelphia Eagles 1:00 pm
12/02/2007 New York Giants Chicago Bears 4:15 pm
The first NFC East game of the weekend already took place on Thursday. It was between the Packers (10-1) and the Cowboys (10-1) down in Big D. The Cowboys beat the Packers 37-27. The Cowboys improved their record to 11-1, which is the best in Cowboys history through 12 games. The Packers fell to 10-2 which is still pretty damn good so I don’t feel bad for them. The Cowboys now have sole possession of 1st place in the NFC as well as the NFC East. With the victory, Dallas is guaranteed at least a Wild Card spot. The Packers have sole possession of the NFC North, and they are in 2nd place in the NFC.
Today, the first game of the day is between the Bills (5-6) and the Redskins (5-6) in D.C. They teams appear to be even by the record, but the Redskins have to deal with the loss of Sean Taylor. That’s not going to be easy. They are going to play a four minuted video about Sean Taylor at FedEx Field prior to the game. This will either be inspiring or hard to bear for the team, so we’ll see how it transpires on the field. Once again, Die Hard Giants Fan would like to send our condolences to the Taylor family, girlfriend, child, and the Redskins organization for their loss. We need the AFC team to beat the NFC East team. The second game of the day is between the Seahawks (7-4) and the Eagles (5-6) down in Philly. We need the Seahawks to win this game. It will keep the Eagles in last place with the Redskins and a few games behind the Giants. However, the Seahawks are struggling big time on the road this year so it might not go down how I hope it will. The third game of the day is between the Giants (7-4) and the Bears in Chicago. Obviously, we NEED the win after getting stomped on last week by the Vikings.
NFC
12/02/2007 Detroit Lions Minnesota Vikings 1:00 pm
12/02/2007 Cleveland Browns Arizona Cardinals 4:05 pm
12/02/2007 Tampa Bay Buccaneers New Orleans Saints 4:05 pm
All teams two games behind the Giants are still in the Wild Card hunt. So teams with a 5-6 record or better are relevant, and that’s what I’ll talk about. The entire NFC North is now relevant. The Packers are in 1st place in the NFC North with a 10-2 record. They already played this week as noted above. The Lions are in 2nd place in the NFC North with a 6-5 record, and 4th place in the NFC. The Bears and the Vikings are tied for 3rd place in the NFC North with a 5-6 record. Two teams are relevant in the NFC South. The Bucs are in 1st place with a 7-4 record in the NFC South, and tied for 3rd place in the NFC. The Saints are in 2nd place with a 5-6 record in the NFC South. Two teams are relevant in the NFC West. The Seahawks are in 1st place in the NFC West with a 7-4 record, and tied for 3rd in the NFC. The Cardinals are in 2nd place in the NFC West with a 5-6 record.
The first NFC game of the day is between the Lions and the Vikings in Minnesota. Two teams with the same record are facing each other head-to-head. One of them has to win. It is irrelevant to me who wins. Obviously, one of them will be in a better position to make the Playoffs. The second NFC game of the day is between the Browns and the Cardinals in Arizona. Of course I want the AFC team to beat the NFC West team and have the Cardinals closer to elimination. The third NFC game of the day is between the Bucs and the Saints in New Orleans. I want the division leading Bucs to further eliminate the Saints from Playoff contention. The Giants now have a tie with Bucs and Seahawks so we need to win some games to lock up a Wild Card Spot Now, lets see if the day goes down as planned.
