Week 16: NFC East Schedule
Here is a look at the NFC East Schedule as well as the schedule for the NFC teams that are in the Playoff hunt with the Giants for Week 16:
NFC East
12/22/2007 Dallas Cowboys Carolina Panther 8:15 pm
12/23/2007 New York Giants Buffalo Bills 1:00 pm
12/23/2007 Philadelphia Eagles New Orleans Saints 1:00 pm
12/23/2007 Washington Redskins Minnesota Vikings 8:15 pm
Unfortunately, there are not any head-to-head NFC East games in Week 16. Those are much better than the rest. No offense to the rest of the league. The first NFC East game took place last night. The Cowboys pulled off the win over the Panthers, but it wasn’t pretty. Fortunately, I got to check out the last 3 Quarters of the game. T.O. left the game in the first half due to a high ankle sprain. Romo didn’t play so well. I’m not sure if Jessica Simpson was in the stands or not, but they won. I was really hoping that her standing in the stands was some sort of curse on the ‘Girls. Anyway, the Cowboys improved their record to 13-2 while the Panthers fell to 6-9. Dallas still hasn’t clinched the 1 Seed yet. If the Packers lose tomorrow then Dallas would lock up home field throughout the Playoffs. The first game of the day is between the Giants (9-5) and the Bills (7-7) in Orchard Park. If the Giants win then they are in. It sounds easier than it is I guess because I thought they would’ve clinched last week. If they lose then they need the Redskins to lose or tie and the Saints to lose or tie. The second game of the day is between the Eagles (6-8) and the Saints (7-7). The Eagles have been eliminated already so we are rooting hard for the Dirty Birds since the Saints are one of the two teams that we need to lose. I’m not sure if the Eagles want to help out their division rivals, but they have to play with some pride. The only problem here is that the game is in New Orleans. The Saints are a bit banged up so I can see them losing one game out of the next two. The third game of the day is a big one on Sunday Night Football. The Redskins (7-7) face the Vikings (8-6) in the Metrodome. We need to root just as hard for the Vikings to smack around the Redskins as we need the Eagles to spank the Saints. It would be a great Christmas if the Giants just win the game, but a Saints loss or tie and a Redskins loss or tie is our backup plan. Let’s just hope that we know the seeding of the NFC by the end of Week 16. Start to chill the bubbly Die Hard Giants Fans.
NFC
12/23/2007 Green Bay Packers Chicago Bears 1:00 pm
12/23/2007 Tampa Bay Buccaneers San Francisco 49ers 1:00 pm
12/23/2007 Baltimore Ravens Seattle Seahawks 4:15 pm
Half of the teams in the NFC have been eliminated which include the Eagles, Cardinals, Lions, Panthers, Bears, 49ers, Falcons, and Rams (from best to worst). Just a funny side note: the Lions are on a 6 game losing streak which began with your boys in blue. Half of the teams are still alive in the Playoff hunt which include the Cowboys, Packers, Seahawks, Buccaneers, Giants, Vikings, Saints, and Redskins (from best to worst). We already covered the Cowboys, Giants, Vikings, Saints, and Redskins in the NFC East section. If the season was to end today then the Giants would be in with a 5 seed, and the Vikings would be in with the 6 seed. With all of that said, only 3 teams can knock the Jints out of the Playoff hunt: Vikings, Redskins, and Saints.
The Packers (12-2) are playing the Bears (5-9) at Soldier Field. If the Packers win then it just keeps the Cowgirls on their heals. The ‘Boys would need to try to win their last game for home field advantage if the Packers win. The Bears have been eliminated already. The Buccaneers (9-5) are playing the 49ers (4-10) in San Fran. The Bucs can only fight for the 3 seed with the Seahawks, and the Niners have been eliminated already. The Ravens (4-10) are playing the Seahawks (9-5) in Seattle. The Ravens have been eliminated already, but the Seahawks need to win to remain the 3 seed.
The Giants are now only tied with the Hawks and the Bucs for the 3rd best record in the NFC, but that doesn’t matter since Seattle and Tampa Bay are division leaders and New York is not. Big Blue has a 1 game lead over Minnesota and a 2 game lead over New Orleans and Washington who are the teams chasing them for a Wild Card spot. With that said, we still need to win another game, get our players some rest, and win a first round Playoff game. Now, lets see if the today and tomorrow goes down as planned.
