O’Hara, Mitchell & Madison
O’Hara, Mitchell, & Madison all have not practiced yet this week. Which is no surprise seeing as it is only Thurs morning. This being the playoffs and all I’m sure the Giants will be coy releasing any ‘real’ information about the status of any players. Hopefully all 3 will be able to play come Sunday, we need all of them on the field. I was trying to decide who we need to play the most or who we could afford to have sit this game of the three and it’s an extremely tough decision. Seeing as we have the most depth at LineBacker, I’d say we can make do without Mitchell the best, but you have to remember we are already playing without one starting linebacker, Kiwanuka, & Mitchell has made some huge plays during the season…fielding two back-ups in the playoffs is far from ideal. Yet Torbor and Wilkinson have looked good in the games they played and Tampa is not a fierce offense. Using the same logic about the Tampa offense makes one believe that we could get by without Madison as the only receiving threat on the team is Galloway. Yet we all know the struggles the Giants have had this year in the secondary, remember Todd Collins and Tarvaris Jackson anybody?
With all that said, I feel we need O’Hara out there more then the other two players, he is the anchor on the O-line. The centers job is to call out the assignments for the rest of the O-line, I don’t think I want a backup in there doing that in a game of this magnitude. The O-line that is made up of solid players and no stars, a group that has played a few years together, that chemistry just cannot be replaced and especially come playoff time against the number 1 defense in the league.
Here’s hoping all three can play come Sunday and knowing the how secretive coaches get during the time of year, I’m sure we all won’t know for sure until - Sunday 1 PM EST - GAME TIME!
