Sunday’s Giants News

Down in Miami, the Tuna cut Zach Thomas on February 14. Thomas missed most of ‘07 due to concussions and migraines. Yesterday, our division rival, the Cowboys, agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with Zach, according to NFL.com. Thomas is expected to be signed in the next couple of days, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. I’m hoping that Zach is washed up and won’t be able to contribute much because I hate when the Cowboys do stuff like this.
Moving Forward - Jerry Reese is finished with the 2007 Giants and ready to assemble the 2008 Giants. Michael Eisen lets you know what Reese’s thoughts are on that.
New York Daily News:
Plaxico Burress may want new deal - Ralph Vacchiano wrote that ”Burress’ agent declined to shoot down speculation on Saturday that the Giants’ top receiver is looking to renegotiate his deal. Burress has three years and $10.5 million left on the six-year, $25 million deal he signed in 2005, but there have been rumors that he’s looking for more. “ Plaxico had an outstanding season, on one leg no less, in ‘07 and will probably be able to squeeze some more money out of the Giants. I’m not a fan of renegotiating deals once the contract has been signed already. We also remember how Plaxico did not live up to the hype in his first few years. Ralph also provided us with the status of Jeremy Shockey who is walking without crutches, and “He has been medically cleared to resume workouts and will be ready for the start of the offseason program (March 31)” according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

How Reese sees it - Jerry Reese answers questions to various rumors and the status of unsigned players.
Rotoworld.com reported that the Giants signed LB Keith O’Neil who “didn’t play in 2007 after being waived/injured by the Colts. He backed up the strong side in Indianapolis, but mostly focused on special teams.”
Rotoworld.com reported that the Giants waived K Shane Andrus because “he was no longer of use after the Jints re-signed Lawrence Tynes.”
Florida Times Union:
Jaguars shopping for answers - Michael C. Wright reported that “The Jaguars are expected pursue free agent S Gibril Wilson when the market opens on February 29.” Multiple teams have expressed interest in Wilson so Reese needs to re-sign him.
