Friday’s Giants News: Pre-Draft Press Conference
![]()
The NFL Draft is only one week away which is why Jerry Reese gave his pre-draft press conference yesterday. As you can see by the amount of articles below, the New York media was on it like a pit bull on a poodle. I always get so pumped up about the Draft because I want to know who’s going to contribute in the upcoming season.
Over at The Blue Screen, Ralph Vacciano wrote about the status of injured players which is something nobody has discussed in months. “Reese said Shockey (broken leg), WR Plaxico Burress (ankle/knee/shoulder), RB Derrick Ward (leg) and Kiwanuka (leg) are all on schedule with their rehabs and should be ready to participate when training camp opens in late July.”
Newsday:
Giants GM: Strahan up in air; not shopping Shockey - Tom Rock provided a couple of quick bits about the Giants. Jerry Reese stated that Michael Strahan will not make his decision to return by next week’s NFL Draft, and Strahan’s decision will not have any effect on what they are going to do in the Draft. Regarding Jeremy Shockey, Reese stated, “Everybody is tradable, no matter what. Anything can happen in personnel, guys, I always say that. But right now, Jeremy Shockey is our starting tight end and we are looking forward for him to be back on the field for us this fall.” Knowing that the rumors have been surfacing for months already, you can interpret that however you want.
New York Daily News:
Giants still awaiting Michael Strahan’s retirement decision - Ralph Vacciano put together a similar article about Strahan to the one Tom Rock wrote above.
New York Post:
CALLS OF DUTY - In case you don’t understand the title (I know I don’t), Paul Schwartz also put together an article about Jeremy.
GIANTS NOT LOOKING TO TRADE SHOCKEY
Jeremy Shockey OK with trade talk - According to Ralph Vacchiano, “Jeremy Shockey has not formally demanded a trade from the Giants, but he has made it very clear he wouldn’t be upset if it happened, either.” Vacchiano didn’t include any quotes from Shockey so I don’t know where Shockey “made it very clear he wouldn’t be upset if it happened”.

TE/FB Tereshinski visits - Mike Garafolo found out that Wake Forest TE/FB John Tereshinski will also work out with the Giants. Rather than writing anything about Tereshinski, Garafolo included this YouTube video clip.
