Big Blue’s O-Line Ranked 13th
Michael Fabiano of NFL.com broke down the Offensive Lines as it pertains to the Fantasy Football Draft which is coming up soon. Everytime there isn’t any real news, I bring you guys what I can find. Once in a blue, it’s an article about Fantasy Football which I know nothing about. I wish I played it just so I can offer my thoughts on these articles.
Back to the O-Lines. The Patriots are No. 1 on the list, and the Packers are No. 2 on the list or No. 1 in the NFC if you want to look at it that way. The Giants are all the way down at No. 13. I know the Giants don’t have a bunch of guys with big names on the O-Line, but the players they have play well together. The past few years, the O-Line has been more successful in the running game than in the passing game. Tiki was able to run wild for years, and the running game by committee was also successful last year. The good news is that Jerry Reese has locked up a few of these guys for the next 5+ years. It also seems like the O-Line picked it up a notch last year pertaining to the passing game. It could still improve a little, but Eli isn’t the most elusive QB either. If only he could do what he did on that Tyree play in the regular season. Here’s the analysis that Fabiano wrote…
The Super Bowl champions finished last season with one of the better run lines in the NFL, as it ranked fourth based on our research. The G-Men scored one touchdown for every 31.2 carries and averaged 4.6 yards per carry, which was tied for third overall. That helps the value of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw in 2008. Their pass line wasn’t as effective, however, as it allowed a sack for every 19.4 pass attempts.
That analysis seems to back up what I was saying above. The sacks would be reduced if Eli was more elusive or if he threw the ball out-of-bounds more. Well, it’s July already which means we’re really getting close to some football. I can’t wait.
