Plaxico Burress is Still Confident About Contract Extension
Ralph Vacchiano over at the The Blue Screen got some of Plaxico Burress‘ thoughts on Jeremy Shockey, his new contract, and his health. Plax said…
I think it is some more personal things that went on with him [Shockey] and with the organization. I think Jeremy, at the end of the day, he wants to be around. I think it is all about wanting to feel wanted for him. I am in the dark like everybody else. With him come training camp time, I have no idea of what is going to happen.
It [contract negotiations] is going pretty good. I’m getting positive feedback from my agent and looking to get it ironed out before training camp. I think it will be done (by camp).
I’m feeling pretty good. The knee is 100%, shoulder is 100%. My pinkie will be what it is. My ankle is probably 90%. I am expecting to be full speed in camp. I’m not going to make a prediction of what I can put up but if I’m healthy, all I can tell people is to watch out.
This isn’t the first time that Burress stated that he was confident that he would get his contract extension. If you remember, Mike Garafolo of The Star-Ledger informed us that Plaxico told former Eagle Ike Reese on Sportsradio 610 WIP-AM that he was confident his situation would be rectified by training camp on June 17. The only thing new here is that Burress spoke about his health. He said his knee and shoulder are 100%, who knows what is wrong with his pinkie, and his ankle is 90%. That’s quite a list, right? He should have a better season in ‘08 than he did in ‘07 because he’s saying that he’s healthy.
