Die Hard Giants Fan Aired in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

January 19, 2008 By: Keith Category: Die Hard Giants Fan, NFL, New York Giants No Comments →

Earlier this week, Abu from the Old Skool New School Remix show reached out to Phessional at our Die Hard Giants Fan MySpace page.  Abu invited us onto their Public Access show to go pound-for-pound, toe-to-toe, blow-for-blow with three Packers fans about the NFC Championship game tomorrow night.  I represented Die Hard Giants Fan by calling up the show, and the Packers fans were onsite.  The show was aired this morning on Channel 96 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 10:00-10:30 am CST.  Unfortunately, we were not able to give you prior notice since the site was down.  The majority of Giants fans would not have access to the show anyway, but if any lived out there then they could’ve caught it.  And if Packers fans came here then they could’ve caught it as well.  The show will re-air on 1/26/2008 at 8:00 pm CST and on 1/28/2008 at 10:00 am, but the results of the game will already be decided by them.  It was fun battling the Packers fans and letting them know why Big Blue will represent the NFC in the Superbowl.  We appreciate the opportunity that Abu provided.  You can check out the Old Skool New School Remix MySpace page to see what they are all about.

Die Hard Giants Fan is Back!

On behalf of DieHardSportsFan.net and Die Hard Giants Fan, I apologize for the site being inaccessible.  Apparantly, the website outgrew the hosting package.  My hosting company decided to shut it down rather than warn me that it was going to happen.  Once the dialogue began, the hosting company had to move the website from one server to another and the process took longer than I was hoping it would.  The Giants have an NFC Championship game tomorrow, and the timing couldn’t have been worse.  Again, my apologies.

Power Rankings - Season Finale

January 02, 2008 By: mrjokah Category: Amani Toomer, Die Hard Giants Fan, NFL, New York Giants No Comments →

The Final ESPN.com Power Rankings of the season are in. The playoff bound Giants moved up one spot from last week to 9th overall. That sounds about right to me, I would have guessed anywhere from 8th to 10th. Had the beaten the Pats, or should I say if the officiating was better and the bogus calls the Pats received never had happened a la the 15 yd penalty on Toomer for a late hit when Toomer was about 4 ft away….aargh, I could go on and on, but I digress…Where was I, oh yeah, had the Giants won that game they more likely would have ended up number 6 overall.
A side note from the Rankings is how the heck did ESPN rank the Jags over the Pack? That’s just craziness.

Here’s how we here at Die Hard Giants Fan ranked the teams this season:
1: Patriots
2: Colts
3: Cowboys (hurts to write that)
4: Packers
5: Chargers
6: Jaguars
7: Steelers
8: Giants
9: Seahawks
10: Redskins
11: Browns
12: Bucs
13: Eagles
14: Titans
15: Vikings
16: Texans
17: Cardinals
18: Broncos
19: Saints
20: Bears
21: Bills
22: Bengals
23: Panthers
24: Lions
25: Ravens
26: Jets
27: 49ers
28: Chiefs
29: Rams
30: Raiders
31: Falcons
32: Dolphins

NO MATTER WHAT…

I know we’re in the playoffs and winning or losing against New England does not matter but you know our defense is not going to rest in peace against Brady and company. No matter what, Tom Brady is going to get a taste of the home turf due to a Giants brutal defensive frontline.

Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck, Barry Cofield, and Fred Robbins. Ask any quarterback if they know these names and they’ll know for sure. My focus has always been the defense and this will be a special time for our boys. We should all be looking at the defense to give the Patriots a hard time since our offense will probably deactivate key players. We have frontal power, a set of linebackers who have made themselves known as dominant forces, and when healthy in the backfield we’re intercepting machines.

We’re going to have to wrap this one up “Let’s go Giants!”

If the air is against us, then let’s use land

The New York Giants have created absolute power in the running aspect of the game. Our starter Brandon Jacobs; third and fourth string Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw have showed the NFL that no matter who is running the ball for the Giants, it’s going to be a tough day for any defense.

Brandon Jacobs, the destroyer, has definitely put the numbers up for any doubt. Yes his injuries were a heavy toll on the Giants and in the beginning yes, it was looking like he might not be the next best thing. Jacobs is past all the nonsense now and has given himself some good recognition amongst his Giants fans as a monster in the running back position. We were all right when we said he’ll become a beast and with the experience he’s getting, it’s only a matter of time before he starts using other techniques to make his running game even more effective. Think not? he’ll be around for a while and you’ll see the progression of Jacobs to become the next best thing.

Derrick Ward was known to carry the weight and maintain the pace in Tiki Barber times. Now, eventhough injured, has earned the respect of defenders to be able to carry the game. Ward gives our running game what Tiki gave us which is finesse. He is very elusive and it is always exciting to watch him run the ball while defenders just miss him. On the other hand, Ahmad Bradshaw is beginning to earn what I saw in the kid from the very start. He impressed me during pre-season and has shown he has the ability to do it during regular season. He is also starting to see not just in front of him but ahead of him.

Our offensive line may have some trouble here and there with the passing but the running schemes are being worked to perfection. To allow our runners to break for big gains means we are getting the job done at the line of scrimage.

Bottomline, we are a threat. I know it may seem like we fall sometimes and can’t figure a way to get up but the spirit remains. Hopefully, we can give the public what they have been waiting for and show them how team spirit can get it done.

Die Hard Giants Fan vs. Die Hard Bills Fan

December 21, 2007 By: Keith Category: Die Hard Giants Fan, NFL, New York Giants No Comments →

On Wednesday, I informed you guys that we would be having a Q&A Session with Billy5407 who is the Author of Die Hard Bills Fan.  So it is Die Hard Giants Fan vs. Die Hard Bills Fan.  Billy5407 sent me 6 questions and I answered them.  If you want to see those then go check out Die Hard Bills Fan.  We asked Billy5407 ten questions and he answered them.  They are below.  He did an excellent job with these.

Question 1 -  Is Trent Edwards the answer? (MrJokah)

Answer 1 -  Yes I do feel that Trent Edwards is the future.  He is 5-2 as a  starter.  His numbers aren’t impressive, but he reads the field well and doesn’t make any stupid mistakes.  He also gets rid of the ball very quick and very rarely takes a sack.  He definitely has the brains and the arm to lead this team.

Question 2 -  Is it possible that Fred Jackson is the better back over Marshawn Lynch? (MrJokah)

Answer 2 -  Fred Jackson is a great complement to Marshawn Lynch.  Lynch has better overall skill and doesn’t go down on first contact.  Jackson might be faster but Lynch is better between the tackles.  Both are great receivers  but the Bills haven’t utilized all of Marshawns skills.  Marshawn also missed three games this year and has almost 1,000 yards.  I really like both backs but feel that Lynch will be an all-pro.

Question 3 -  Now that the Bills have been eliminated from the playoffs, do you see them grinding out the season or are the already on the golf course? (MrJokah)

Answer 3 -  Even though we are eliminated from the Playoffs, this team will not lay down.  They have fought hard all year even with 14 players on injured reserve.  It would be a great accomplishment to end the season at 9-7.   We have 49 players under contract going into next season so the same team will be back.  I expect them to make the playoffs in 2008.  This team will fight until the season is over.

Question 4 -  How inspiring do you think Kevin Everett walking out on the field will be for the Bills?  The last time I recall Everett giving a speech was on Monday Night Football when the Bills faced the Cowboys at home, is that correct?  It seemed like he had a huge impact on the game? (Keith)

Answer 4 -  I think Kevin Everett will give a big boost to the team.  The last time he sent a message was the Sunday night disaster against the Patriots.  But this is different.  He will be out there instead of a video message.  All of his teammates will want to win this game for him.  Everyone knows what happened and how he fought hard to overcome everything.  He never gave up.  I expect the Bills to do the same thing.

Question 5 -  How good is Marshawn Lynch?  How effective do you think he will be against a Giants’ defense that averages less than 100.1 yards per game? (Keith)

Answer 5 -  Marshawn Lynch is the real deal.  He has put up good games against all of the top run defenses in the league.  He will fight for every last yard and once he gets near the goalline there is no stopping him.  I know the Giants have a good defense but Lynch is up for the challenge.  If we can get some first downs by passing the ball, that will open up the running game.

Question 6 -  What other backs in the NFL would you compare Marshawn Lynch too? (Keith)

Answer 6 -  I wouldn’t really compare Marshawn to any back right now.  I think he is more of a Thurman Thomas and Marshal Faulk type of back.  He can get the yards by making a crazy move or he can take a screen pass and go the distance.  He is dangerous as both a runner and receiver.

Question 7 -  How concerned should Trent Edwards be facing a defense ranked first in sacks in the NFL with 49? (Keith)

Answer 7 -  I think Trent Edwards will do just fine against the Giants pass rush.  He always seems to sense the pressure and get rid of the ball.  I expect the Bills to run quick routes so Trent is not sitting back there for a long time.  Our offensive line has not allowed a sack in three weeks.  Although Trent is a rookie, he reads the field well and will throw the ball away if he has to.  Watch out because Trent can run also.

Question 8 -  How will your ‘O’ line handle the Giants front 4 (Strahan, Tuck, Cofield, and Umenyiora)? (Keith)

Answer 8 -  Our offensive line has held up quite well in pass protection.  They have never faced a defensive line as deep as the Giants but I’m sure they are up for the challenge.  Our left tackle, Jason Peters, is on his way to the Pro Bowl and will dominate either Strahan or Osi.

Question 9 -  The weather is supposed to be between 40 degrees and 54 degrees with winds around 24 mph and heavy rain.  Who do you think this favors and why?  Which two-headed monster will have a better game in what appears to be an old-school smashmouth football game? (Keith)

Answer 9 -  If the forecast holds true, I think the Bills have the advantage.  Although I do think Jacobs and Droughns are good backs, I feel that Lynch and Jackson will be able to utilize their speed and hopefully wear down the Giants Defense.  I think that both the Giants and the Bills will have success running the ball in this one.

Question 10 -  What is your prediction? (Keith)

Answer 10 -  My prediction for the game is Bills 20 - Giants 17.

Two worries: Urlacher and Hester

December 02, 2007 By: phessional Category: Die Hard Giants Fan, Eli Manning, NFL, New York Giants No Comments →

Devin Hester has become the biggest threat against any special team. Brian Urlacher has always been a devastating force in the MLB position. The rest of the team is not a threat at all but we cannot sleep on these Bears.

It seems a good defense throws Manning off his game, he has proven this with the recent loses we’ve had against the Cowboys and the Vikings. Sad? yes, but we must move on and look at these Bears like cubs and try to take them off their habitat. It’s been said that Eli Manning shows no emotion even when he executes correctly. It is understood that he needs to maintain the team calm but show a little disappointment at yourself. He needs to feel disappointed so that he tries harder the next time. Football is a game of tears, shouts of joy, excitement, and pure adrenaline rush. Someone just shake him, smack him on the helmet and tell him “kid, focus man…focus”. Let’s not let the injuries be our downfall again. We have a great offense and back-ups to our offense who are ready to step up. Let’s rotate these players and throw the defense off their game.

We’re due for a good win, I mean a good win like we have been in the beginning of the season. I need to feel like we earned this win and have a confident team for the future games to come. Let’s go boys!

Moving forward

Understood, Giants lost to the Cowboys. We will see them again soon and try once again to take the throne from them.

After a bye week our Giants were not ready to execute as well as they thought they would. Our first half was full of excitement and the game stood exactly for what we thought it was going to be. A heavyweight collision appeared to be the appropriate term for this throw down. Unfortunately, somewhere in the beginning of the second half we lost focus. I’m not sure if it was due to the coaching or the player execution but our efforts were not enough. To only get a field goal for the entire second half was an embarrassment to the team.

I think our coaching should have stuck to the plan of using a lot of play-action. It is a technique that does not fail us very often so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t stick to this method. We have a positive percentage of made plays due to our fine execution of a play-action call and we could have thrown those Cowboys off their game and brought them to ours.

Disappointed? Yes. Will I stop believing? No. I think the play calling will be adjusted to make sure we don’t get caught off our game again. I still think the Giants have what it takes to win against them or give them one hell of a fight, unlike the demonstration they gave last Sunday.

GAME OF THE WEEK

November 06, 2007 By: phessional Category: Aaron Ross, Die Hard Giants Fan, Eli Manning, Michael Strahan, NFL, New York Giants, Osi Umenyiora 2 Comments →

Question: What is good for your health? A healthy Giants team. At the same standing point as last year the Giants don’t look as dismantle as they were. The starting line-up looks 100% and with the way they’re playing these Dallas Cowboys are going to have to strategize well.

My main focus going against a team as strong as the Cowboys is the execution from our defensive line. Here is where the main event is going to happen. Our defensive unit is healthy and looking to close Tony Romos’ path on every play. It’s going to be a showdown for the defense, Michael Strahan on one side and Osi Umenyiora on the other hungry for more sacks. Romo is good inside and outside the pocket but he’ll see what these boys can do and better yet he’ll get to feel it. To all fans there’s not going to be a better feeling than Romo hitting the ground. This defensive line has QBs making the wrong decision and letting our safeties and cornerbacks get some interceptions. Especially with Aaron Ross in the zone, he’ll be looking to take it to the house.

Our offense is up and running also with Eli Manning taking on a better leadership role. This will be a good test for Manning where he’ll feel the pressure of going against a good quarterback like Romo. His brother felt the pressure of going against an elite quarterback in Tom Brady, now it’s the brothers’ turn against Romo and it’s going to be a show down. And don’t get me started on the running game the Cowboys are going to have to worry about.

I don’t take anything away from the Cowboys as a team, but this weekend they’ll face a unit that has proven to everyone playing with heart is playing the part. TALK IS CHEAP, PLAY THE GAME!

Soooo…what do we do for Sunday?

November 03, 2007 By: phessional Category: Die Hard Giants Fan, NFL, New York Giants 1 Comment →

Since the Giants are out for their bye week, we have one of the best match ups ever coming up. The New England Patriots versus the Indianapolis Colts.

With both teams 6-0 this is going to be a match up probably viewed as much as the superbowl. New England looks very strong but we can never bet against Indianapolis. All I know is that New England will not go undefeated during the regular season. We face them in our last game of the season and it’s going to be an exciting match up with the type of defense we have. I love the fact that I can talk smack now because we have such a good team. It’s the part of being a fan I like. Patriots and Colts fans have enjoyed this for a long time but now it’s going our turn. Let’s let the season develop further and we’ll see the chart my friend Keith has provided for us go down in numbers to be under top fives.

Believe me that with this team and the type of heart we been playing, there’s no stopping us. We are crushing many opposing teams and coming up with wins against teams that pose a threat. We have some tough match ups ahead of us, but the main thing is we are playing with heart.
