Sunday’s Giants Links

Lambeau FieldThe path to the Superbowl is getting clearer and clearer.  The Packers and the Patriots won their games.  I live for watching games like what took place in Title Town, USA yesterday.  I love when it snows.  It’s a shame that Indianapolis, Detroit, and Minnesota all have domes.  Today, we got a game for the ages.  The Giants are the 3rd most winningest franchise in the NFL, and the Cowboys are tied for 4th with 4 other teams.  The Packers are are the most winningest franchise followed by the Bears.  The Packers will play in another NFC Championship game, but the Bears didn’t make the Playoffs.  If the Cowboys win then they will host the NFC Championship game.  If the Giants win the game, then the Packers will host the NFC Championship game.  I’m hoping that we get to play at Lambeau Field next week.  I was very upset that Tom Brady broke Phil Simms’ completion percentage record in a Playoff game last night while Simms was broadcasting the game.

Giants are New York’s only feel-good story - Ain’t that the truth.  The Jets had a terrible season.  We had to deal with the Mitchell Report rocking Major League Baseball in the offseason.  The Knicks have been the worst run franchise in NBA history for decades, and it’s only getting worse.  The NHL will start to pick up once the NFL Playoffs come to an end.

5 moments from Giants-Cowboys past - Gary Myers put together an interesting read.  Since the Cowboys didn’t exist as long as the Giants have, the meetings between the two teams can only go back so far.  The Cowboys came about in 1960, so they aren’t like the Giants, Bears, Packers, Redskins, or Eagles who have been around much, much longer.

ELI MUST BE TOUGH ‘OTHER’ - By reading the title, I would have no idea what the article is about.  Steve Serby is saying that Eli Manning has to be the other quarterback, besides Phil Simms and Jeff Hostetler, to win a Superbowl.  Since the Superbowl Era, the Giants have won two Superbowls.

GM Reese’s pieces translate to sweet sucess - Jerry Reese had a great first year as the Giants GM.  Many of his picks in the draft are contributing in the Playoffs.  He didn’t even flinch when Strahan tried to stronghold the team.  This is something I was going to cover after the G-MEN won the Superbowl, or got eliminated.

Eli Manning and Peyton ManningI apologize to you all for not writing yesterday.  I’m not feeling well at all, but I feel a notch better today than yesterday.  So we got a HUGE game this Sunday, but it wouldn’t have been if we beat the Redskins.  However, the G-MEN like to make us wait until the last possible second to make the Playoffs (i.e., we clinced the Playoffs in the final game of 2006).  Since it is almost impossible that we beat the mighty Patriots in the final week, this probably is our final shot at making the Playoffs, unless other teams start losing.  Ain’t that something?  I think so.  This one will be on Peyton’s kid brother’s arm.  This is the #1 Draft Pick money shot right here:

WR Hixon’s emotional return - Michael Eisen wrote a story about Domenik Hixon’s return to Ralph Wilson Stadium.  The last time Hixon played there, he took the hit from Kevin Everett that paralyzed Everett’s.  I’ve read that Kevin Everett is supposed to walk out on the field this Sunday.  I can’t wait to see that, and I’m very happy for him because he was able to overcome so much.  Definitely check out this article.

Transcript: Coach Tom Coughlin - Michael Eisen did a Q&A with Tom Coughlin.  Eisen asked a bunch of questions about how T.C. plans to kick to Devon Hester.  Definitely check this article out.  I say you kick it in the end zone on a Kick Off and ensure that it is going to be a touch back.  If you are unable to kick it away from Hester in the end zone then just kick it out of bounds and put their offense at the 40 yardline.  They aren’t that good.  On punts, just kick it out of bounds as deep as the punter can get it.

Pre Practice Report - Michael Eisen stated that Derrick Ward was supposed to practice today.  That’s some great news because we need him back.  I read earlier that the Giants released Patrick Pass already and signed somebody from the practice squad.  I’m sure I’ll come across it again while I read through the articles.
